How to share interests between two things so diferent as advertisiment and arquitecture?
The advertisiment tries to sell its products, brands, values and concepts. And the arquitecture uses art as a tool in order to project the urban environment that we live.
My first week living in BCN, I’ve noticed something that can be common and usual to the europeans. But for me isn’t, who used to live in the biggest city of latin america, São Paulo. During that time i saw the boom and the fall of the outdoor’s, banners, frontdoor’s, buzzdoor and all others kinds as know as “visual pollution” with the approval of the law “clean city” prohibiting all external ads in Brazil’s financial capital.
This picture (i’m sorry but my camera is not so good) shows the corner of Passeig de Gracia with Gran Via. One of barcelona’s most luxury adress. What’s happening is a reform of l`estació del Nord, and covering the whole aspect of constrution, protecting people from de dust and possible debris that may fall, there’s a giant camper’s billboard. Camper is an icon brand in fashion all over the world when it comes to shoe.
In the others pictures we can see Ford and Cacaolat(in the ramblas!!)
The fact is that these companies are sponsoring the reforms and “showing their faces” in barcelona’s most desire andresses. An intelligent way that the barcelona`s city Hall, found to use the ads.
Here’s a Tip for our babylon called São Paulo.

Um beijo, Mary.
